What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis has been around since the 1800’s and is the only proven method of permanent hair removal. Electrolysis works through the use of small amounts of electrical current being released into the hair follicle and destroying the growing cells nourishing the hair. The hair is removed during the treatment.
What areas can be treated by Electrolysis?
All areas and skin types including face and body can be treated including eyebrows, upper lip, chin, underarms, bikini and legs. Electrolysis can also be done within tattooed areas and is also safe during pregnancy.
Why would someone choose Electrolysis over Laser Hair Removal?
Electrolysis works well for people with blond or white hair, as those clients are lacking the dark pigmentation required for laser hair removal. Electrolysis can be used in combination with laser hair removal for some clients, this will be decided on your consultation. Eyebrows are treated by electrolysis due to the proximity to the eyes and the ability to shape the area properly.
How long are Electrolysis treatments and how many will I need?
Electrolysis requires a series of consistently planned treatments with the sessions depending on a number of factors including the area being treated and the use of temporary methods in the past. Each individual area is assessed during our complementary consultation at which time an approximate number of sessions will be needed. Individual results will vary so only estimates can be given. We offer 15 to 90 minute sessions depending on size of area and tolerance.
Does it hurt?
A small amount of electrical current is released into the hair follicle resulting in a mild tingling sensation. Numbing creams can be used prior to treatment but are usually unnecessary as the sensation is only felt in milliseconds.
Is it expensive?
Electrolysis treatments are priced according to time. Considering electrolysis results in permanent hair removal the price is reasonable when compared to ongoing temporary hair removal methods.
