HOW TO REMOVE SHELLAC NAILS OR GEL NAILS AT HOME
Have your Shellac Nails or Gel Nails grown out or hanging on for dear life? We want you to keep your nails healthy for when we re-open. Please do not use drugstore stick on nails or glue or anything that can damage your nails. We will explain how to care for your nails at home until you can come and see us, and please see our New Spa at Home Kits for purchase.
HOW DO REMOVE SHELLAC NAILS FROM ENHANCE
Shellac Nails can be soaked off with acetone. At the spa we soak a piece of cotton or gauze in acetone and put on each individual nail, and then wrap the nail with tinfoil. Leave this on for 10-15 mins, and when you remove it your Shellac should be able to be lightly scraped off with the orangewood stick. After you can use the nail file to shape your nails and the buffer to lightly buff the nail. You can then apply the nail strengthener and cuticle oil. These products will help strengthen your nail and any new growth.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend our Spa at Home Kit #1 for Shellac Nails. If you feel that the mini nail strengthener is not enough you can add on a Full Size nail strengthener in a nude colour for an additional $30.
If you are used to having Shellac on your nails we also recommend our Spa at Kit #3, it includes Vinylux which is a long lasting at-home polish in the Shellac colours you love. In our kits we have chosen popular nude colours as they are much easier to apply and care for at home than darker colours. Use the orangewood sticks to correct any polish on your cuticles/skin.
HOW TO REMOVE GEL NAILS FROM ENHANCE
If you have Gel Nails on from Enhance this product cannot be soaked off and will need to be filed off. We recommend filing the gel as it grows, to keep the nails shorter and less likely to break. You can also use the file on the gel to thin it out. Please be careful not to file your natural nail as the gel thins out.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend our Spa at Home Kit #2. You can use the file to file the gel down, and then apply the nail strengthener with colour then the cuticle oil to protect and strengthen the nail.
GEL NAILS WITH SHELLAC OVERLAY FROM ENHANCE
If you have Gel Nails on from Enhance with Shellac overlay ontop on you have a couple of options: You can try and file the Shellac and the Gel off with the nail file. However most people will find it easier to soak off the Shellac with Acetone and then file down the Gel Nails.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend our Spa at Home Kit #1. If you have Gel with Shellac overlay you can purchase Kit #1 and soak off the shellac and then file the gel. If you feel that the mini nail strengthener is not enough you can add on a Full Size nail strengthener in a nude colour for an additional $30.
The other option. (will take longer) is Spa Home Kit #2 and file everything off.
GEL / ACRYLIC NAILS FROM OTHER SALONS
It is difficult for us to know exactly what the product on your nails are. Many salons (especially the discount salons) are not forthcoming with the ingredients in their nail products. ‘Bio Gel’ can be Gel (which needs to be filed off) or it can actually be Acrylic (which can be soaked off). Sometimes Shellac is not the real Shellac but something much stronger and full of chemicals and harder to get off your nails. You are welcome to try our kits but we cannot guarantee they will remove your product. We would recommend starting with Spa at Home Kit 1 to see if your product will come off with a combination of soaking with acetone and filing the nail.
HOME PEDICURE
If your feet are in need of a Pedicure here’s some tips to continue at home until you see us. Soak your feet in the bath and then take out and use a foot file on your rough and callused areas on the bottom of your feet. You can then use a scrub on your feet (and legs!) and then dry and apply lotion/salve/cream. Put some socks on after so you don’t slip!
RECOMMENDATION: Our Spa at Home Kit #4 has a selection of products to look after your feet at home. If you have Shellac on your nails from Enhance you can just let is grow out, or purchase Spa at Home Kit #1 and soak it off the same way we described above for hands.
